Classes begin September 5, 2023!
Each class has a specific color leotard that needs to be worn by the ladies during classes. Male dancers will need a solid color shirt, black tights and black shoes to wear for class.
All dancewear, including shoes and tights, can be purchased at the Dancewear counter in the lobby of the studio. Ladies also have the opportunity to purchase their class leotard online when they register for classes and can be picked up at the Dancewear counter.

Kinderdance

This is the first experience in a ballet classroom with a teacher, pianist and other students. Students learn rhythms and listen to music, to take turns and follow instructions. This year is student's first experience at wearing a leotard, ballet shoes and dancing in front of a live audience. |

Elementary

This is the year students begin learning floor exercises for flexibility and shaping of the body. Students learn to dance in time with the music and enter/exit the stage without the help of the instructor. |

Basic 1

At this level, students continue to shape the body and start to shape the feet. Flexibility and strength are built upon through exercises. Students learn, through discipline, that the body is an instrument for dance and must be tuned and held properly at all times. |

Basic 2

At this level, students begin putting steps together and using memory. They begin to push the body to do more each day, which requires a longer class time. Head and body direction are taught and steps begin to be executed on one foot. Exercises for flexibility are also added to the curriculum. |

Basic 3

This level is when students have acquired enough strength to do steps on half pointe and prepare the body for pointe shoes. Muscles begin to work harder, students learn to turn and the lessons are increased to three per week. Exercises for flexibility are also added to the curriculum. |

Intermediate 2

This level is when students begin preparing for pointe work. Proper feet and body positions are emphasized and executed at the barre one foot. Increase in knowledge of ballet steps is also achieved during this class. Students will be introduced to Character Dance and exercises for flexibility are also added to the curriculum. *Introduction to Character Class |

At this level students develop personality and subtle mannerisms that set them apart from the corps. Students work on many turns, high extensions and big jumps while working toward becoming a professional dancer. Class is held five days per week with rehearsal following class work. Students at this level will have the opportunity to learn variations, solos, group pieces, and create and teach choreography to other students in the class. Exercises for flexibility are also added to the curriculum. *Character Class |

Adult Classes

Our open adult ballet classes has two sessions, beginning and advanced. The beginning class is available for anyone who has an interest in learning ballet or improving their technique skills. The advanced class is available for dancers who have previously trained and want to return to the art form without the pressure of performance. |

Contemporary

Prerequisite: Completion of/enrollment in Intermediate 2 or higher is required prior to enrollment. This is a beginner to intermediate level dance class where students will learn multiple dance forms including modern and contemporary dance fundamentals, improvisational studies and beginning level jazz. Throughout the year students will be given opportunities to learn new choreography and perform in school shows. |
