2020-2021 Classes
This year, due to health and safety guidelines given by our local government and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) all students and faculty will be required to wear masks. We will also be limiting the number of students in the classrooms and introducing distance learning opportunities for each of our classes (see the information at the bottom of the page).

This is the first experience in a ballet classroom with a teacher, pianist and other students. Students learn rhythms and listen to music, to take turns and follow instructions. This year is student's first experience at wearing a leotard, ballet shoes and dancing in front of a live audience.

This is the year students begin learning floor exercises for flexibility and shaping of the body. Students learn to dance in time with the music and enter/exit the stage without the help of the instructor. Students must complete Elementary 1 before continuing to Elementary 2.

In this year, students build on the basics learned in Elementary 1. Floor exercises for flexibility and shaping of the body are continued and students practice dancing in time with the music and entering/exiting the stage without the help of the instructor. Students must complete Elementary 2 before continuing to Basic 1.

At this level, students continue to shape the body and start to shape the feet. Flexibility and strength are built upon through exercises. Students learn, through discipline, that the body is an instrument for dance and must be tuned and held properly at all times.

At this level, students begin putting steps together and using memory. They begin to push the body to do more each day, which requires a longer class time. Head and body direction are taught and steps begin to be executed on one foot.

This level is when students have acquired enough strength to do steps on half pointe and prepare the body for pointe shoes. Muscles begin to work harder, students learn to turn and the lessons are increased to three per week.

At this level students develop personality and subtle mannerisms that set them apart from the corps. Students work on many turns, high extensions and big jumps while working toward becoming a professional dancer. Class is held five days per week with rehearsal following class work. Students at this level will have the opportunity to learn variations, solos, group pieces, and create and teach choreography to other students in the class.

In this class students will learn the art of contemporary ballet with opportunities to learn choreography and perform it at our shows throughout the year.
$100.00/Quarter (10 weeks)
Class Uniform
All classes have a uniform consisting of a leotard, tights, shoes and a hairpiece to match. Students are expected to arrive for class on time in their designated class uniform with their hair pulled back into a neat bun. If for any reason a student’s hair is too short to put in a bun, it needs to be pulled back out of their face.

Wrap Sweaters are also allowed for students to wear during class for warmth if needed: $28

Uniforms may be purchased at the Ballet Center Utah, Inc. Dancewear counter in the Ballet Center Utah, Inc. Lobby. All Ballet Center Utah, Inc. students receive a 10% discount on tights and shoes.
Distance Learning Opportunities
Starting Fall Quarter 2020, all classes will be available for in class and online opportunities through Zoom. Detailed information on how this will work for each class will be provided by instructors to their students prior to the start of Fall Quarter on September 8.
